Day of citizen mourning, today in Ragusa, for the passing of Peppino Leone. In conjunction with the funeral, which took place in the Cathedral, the mayor Peppe Cassì suspended all public events and ordered the display of flags at half-mast in the municipal offices and in all public buildings. The city banner was displayed at the funeral. The municipal administration also invited schools, fellow citizens, owners of commercial activities, political, social and productive organizations and sports associations, to express their participation in the city’s mourning by suspending activities, as a sign of recollection and respect during funerals.

Celebrating the funeral rite, in the presence of the highest authorities, was Father Roberto Asta: “The presence of the authorities – he said during the homily – is the sign of gratitude that the city has for the work and presence of maestro Leone, we today we want to entrust it to the mercy of the Lord. He left an indelible mark in the history of the city of Ragusa and the whole of Sicily by immortalizing places and traditions with extraordinary photos. It was in this cathedral, at the age of 14, that his passion for photography was born in him.” .
