According to an initial reconstruction (municipal police and carabinieri are working on the case), the man slipped, most likely also due to the asphalt made slippery by the rain that fell a few hours earlier, ending up against a car traveling in the opposite direction. The impact was terrible and the eighty-year-old immediately appeared in serious condition. Rescued by 118, he was transported to the Maresca hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery.
The man died without ever regaining consciousness.
