From June in Bologna the “revolution of the metropolitan railway service will “finally” begin, which we want to transform into a real surface metro with four trains per hour passing through Bologna, even in the evening every day of the week” . Word of the mayor Matteo Lepore who explains how “62 more trains per day are planned that cross the city of Bologna and connect, for example, Pianoro to the city and the Casalecchio hub. They are metropolitan trains that also serve Porretta and Marzabotto and the Apennines , but which will also allow us to provide an urban service”.
“For Tper subscribers this service will be free and those who are not subscribers will be able to have the ticket integrated with the bus for 1.80 euros”, adds Lepore. The aim is to give the people of Bologna, thanks to the tram and train, the possibility of leaving the car at home and traveling comfortably by public transport.
Satisfaction also on the part of the Mobility Councilor of the Emilia-Romagna Region, Andrea Corsini, who explains how Viale Aldo Moro has “allocated over 11 million euros more for local trains between Bologna and Porretta and Bologna Modena and 19.5 million for the purchase of three new electric trains, on which bicycles can also be loaded, including pedal-assisted ones. 57 through lines are also planned. “It is a commitment we made a year ago with the Metropolitan City and Trenitalia Tper which we have honoured”. The new service, which also includes a new timetable, will come into force from 9 June and will soon be visible on the Trenitalia Tper and Trenitalia websites. It will be fully operational from 9 September, after the summer upgrade works on the Bologna-Prato and Bologna-Vignola lines.
