Video surveillance: projects in 35 municipalities in Sannio financed

Benevento

The Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security of Benevento, chaired by the Prefect Carlo Torlontano, approved this morning the projects for the creation and implementation of video surveillance systems presented by 35 Municipalities of the province aimed at the financing provided for by the Ministry decree of the Interior, in agreement with the Ministry of Economy and Finance, on 20 December 2023.

On this occasion, the Prefect Torlontano expressed his deep appreciation towards the Mayors who, with the signing of the “Security Pacts”, a necessary prerequisite for accessing the provision of the resources made available by the Ministry of the Interior, intended to guarantee conditions of ever greater protection for citizens through the use of technological control systems that allow images to be shared with the operations rooms of the police bodies.

This is with a view to a shared strategy aimed at making crime prevention increasingly effective and supporting the investigative activity of the police and in the awareness that video surveillance systems constitute an added value for more targeted control of the most exposed areas to the risk of crime.

The project proposals, which received a favorable opinion from the Telecommunications Area of the Campania Molise State Police, “constitute – the Prefect observed – a fundamental prerequisite for the creation of a complex video surveillance system capable of strengthening prevention and enforcement activities to urban decay, while at the same time raising levels of territorial security”.
