The match between Sorrento and Catania returns after the first leg match in the championship which saw the Rossoneri team from Campania narrowly prevail at the “Angelo Massimino” stadium, deserted following the closure of the stadium to fans. A great goal from De Francesco a few minutes before the break allowed Sorrento to take full spoils. Catania was not very cynical in the final meters and produced many crosses but few “real” scoring opportunities.

Lucarelli’s Catania tried to play the game from the first minutes, pushing especially towards Rapisarda and Chiricò. Thrill for Bethers in the 32nd minute, when Curado involuntarily served Vitale who finished over the crossbar from a good position. A couple of minutes later, Rocca came very close to taking the lead with a header, but Del Sorbo blocked it with great reflexes. Before the break the Campania team broke the deadlock with a long-range torpedo from De Francesco which left Bethers no chance. In the second half Lucarelli asked for a proud reaction from his team. Catania increased the engine speed but with little purpose, a lot of confusion and crosses that were often easy to read for the Rossoneri defense.

Sorrento, with the exception of a couple of restarts, limited themselves to managing the precious advantage. Catania didn’t even take advantage of some unsafe exits from the visiting goalkeeper. Lucarelli increased the offensive potential by also introducing Chiarella, Dubickas and Popovic but the Sorrento defense kept a good guard and gritted their teeth until the end of 5 minutes of injury time. The attempts of Chiricò and his teammates were useless, Sorrento condemned Catania to a new stop in the championship.
