LAWN – He was found by Lav volunteers from Prato with a tube tightened around his neck, like a vice. Prato, this is the name of the black and white cat rescued this morning in Cascine di Tavola.
History. This morning, the veterinary ambulance intervened near Cascine di Tavola for a truly extraordinary rescue. A cat, later named after the city of “Prato”, was found with a plastic tube around its neck tightened like a vice.
“Probably deliberately placed by someone heartless. His suffering was evident, but his determination to survive was even stronger” underlines Lav.
With the help of trap cages, operated remotely and specially installed cameras, the volunteers managed to locate and save the cat.
“Without their commitment and dedication, we would not have been able to bring him to new hope. After the rescue we took Prato to the Galilei veterinary clinic. His condition requires immediate and delicate care. The plastic tube is so narrow that it will need to be sedated to allow it to be removed safely. But we are confident that with the help of the vets and the love that surrounds Prato, we will be able to overcome this challenge too.”
“We strongly condemn this act of cruelty and insensitivity towards animals. No living being deserves to be subjected to such violence and Prato is just another example of how urgent it is to fight against acts of mistreatment. We will report the incident to the Municipal Police and the Zoofile Guards and, with the help of our volunteers, we will carefully monitor the situation. The place where Prato was recovered is frequented by other cats belonging to a cat colony recognized by the Municipality of Prato”.
Mistreating an animal is a crime punishable with imprisonment of up to 18 months and a fine of up to 30,000 euros.
