Modica, “stop tourist buses in Corso Umberto”

Stop to tourist and regular buses, from Monday, in Corso Umberto in Modica.

This was established by an order from the Commander of the Local Police, Rosario Cannizzaro, published on the Municipality’s website.

There are two bus terminals planned. Those coming from Via Modica Ragusa, in fact, will stop in Piazza Falcone e Borsellino to unload passengers only, and then move to the Piano Ceci car parks, in the area adjacent to the Cemetery.

The tourist buses coming from Scicli or the Sorda district, however, will continue to Piazzale Gramsci (in viale Medaglie d’Oro) where they will stop and stop.

For regular buses, however, the terminus is at Piazzale Falcone e Borsellino, and then continues along via Modica Ragusa.

The reason, contained in the ordinance, is linked to the need to “make the general conditions of pedestrian mobility more effective”, as well as “improve the liveability and environmental conditions of urban spaces, especially in the most congested areas”.

We will see if this choice will be the right one for all the so-called, and often cited in vain, stakeholders. As well as for tourism.
