The Police Union: “Privacy, essential right” / Cesena / Home

“In a world where business and economic needs often collide with… constitutional rightsit is essential for us to draw attention to the importance of most essential rightsespecially those of the most fragile, elderly and disabled”. Michele Fratellanzaprovincial general secretary SiapItalian police union, following a meeting of the union secretariat which was held in recent days in Cesena on the subject of privacy protection.

“The right to privacy and protection of your health status – continues Fratellanza – they are fundamental and cannot be compromised. Too often, in order to meet these business needs, we turn a blind eye to situations that allegedly violate the constitutional rights of the most vulnerable people. The justification for this violation is often presented as need for assistance, but behind this apparent good cause there is often hidden mismanagement, incompetence and negligence. As a union, it is our duty attract collective attention in the Province about this danger and report any violations, so as not to allow them to be ignored or underestimated. If we don’t act with determinationwe risk creating recursive and difficult to remediable drifts, putting at risk the dignity and well-being of children, the elderly and the disabled”.

The Siap secretary, on behalf of the union, finally asks “everyone to be vigilant, supportive and ready to intervene, reporting, whenever violations of fundamental rights occur. Only in this way can we guarantee a safe and respectful environment for everyone, regardless of their age or physical condition.”
