WASTE, MUNICIPALITY OF LATINA SAVES 600 THOUSAND EUROS. SPENDING TO ABC ALSO REDUCED

Unsorted waste in Latina: the Municipality reduces spending towards Rida Ambiente by almost 600 thousand euros. This was established by a decision from the Environment sector

Bound by a significant contract worth almost 7 million euros – 6,956,070.00 to be precise – to the Aprilia company, Rida Ambiente, the Municipality will be able to save a nice nest egg for the year 2024. As is known, Rida Ambiente receives undifferentiated waste from the Municipality of Latina (as well as from many others in the province of Latina) and to do so it has signed a million-dollar contract again this year. Undifferentiated waste ends up in the plant in Via Valcamoninca in Aprilia.

In February, through a note, Rida Ambiente communicated that, following the transfer of waste from waste treatment to landfills outside the Region, the additional charge relating to Regional Resolution no. 448/2022 is not currently due.

This is why it is possible to proceed with a corresponding reduction in the spending commitment previously assumed for a sum amounting to 599,610 euros.

A good result but worse than that of 2023 when the Municipality’s savings, for a contract with a higher amount of 7,721,550.67 euros, amounted to almost one million euros: 950,993.28 euros.

In any case, there is a significant difference: if in 2023 the savings were due to a reduction in the tons of undifferentiated waste, which went from 34,800 as expected for the year 2023 to 30,514, now the Municipality will spend less only because the treatment waste was sent outside the Region. This means that the provincial capital has not significantly increased its separate waste collection.

At the same time there is another resolution to be recorded, again from the Environment service, signed by the manager Gian Pietro De Biaggio, with which the Municipality’s spending commitment towards the special company ABC which takes care of the urban hygiene service is reduced of the city of Latina.

The decrease in money towards ABC derives from the proposed resolution no. 42 of 17 April for the approval of the infra-period revision of the PEF 2022 – 2025. The ongoing proposal provides for a reduction in the cost items of the service, including the cost of the current contract with ABC which goes to a total value of 18,480 euros ,000.00, including 10% VAT. Originally the cost was expected to be 19,225,164 euros.

We read in the determination that “the transitional phase characterizing the current management of the Urban Hygiene service provides for the ongoing adjustment of the sums actually due to the ABC manager depending on the progressive extension of the “door to door” collection service.
