Turin family receives 1161 euros for canceled Ryanair Turin Trapani flight

In the recent sentence pronounced by Justice of the Peace of Trapani the civil dispute involving the airline was concluded Ryanair. The case saw the appellant obtain a reason for the cancellation of the flight FR5904 of 19 May 2023, with route Turin Trapani.

ItalyRefund, acting on behalf of a three-member family from Turin, made a request for financial compensation, in addition to the extra expenses incurred. The Judge’s decision was motivated by the proven documentation, which demonstrates the purchase of the ticket for the flight in question and its subsequent cancellation, without exceptional causes that could justify it.

The ruling is based on the provisions of EC Regulation n. 261/04which regulates passenger rights in the event of flight cancellation. According to this regulation, passengers have the right to adequate assistance from the carrier and, in the event of cancellation without justification, also to financial compensation.

The Judge therefore recognized the appellants’ right to pecuniary compensation of 250 euros for each passenger, in addition to 411 euros in financial damages for the purchase of new tickets, for a total of 1161 euros.

The ruling underlines the right of passengers to have their interests protected in the event of contractual breach by airlines and confirms the importance of European regulations to protect consumer rights in the air transport sector.
