The exterior of Myenergy, Thomas Aguzzoli took stock in view of the crucial and decisive match, scheduled for Sunday 21 April at 6pm at PalaCalafiore against Power Basket Salerno. The Emilian winger was a guest in the “Momentineroarancio” format, broadcast on the Club’s official TV, Videotouring. Here are his impressions:
“Since the beginning of the year we have done a great thing. One game at a time, higher and higher. Now, you need even more heat by the people, so as not to make mistakes. I think Monopoli was an important victory also from a psychological point of view. In the last two games we were better at managing the end of the match. We have improved from a mental point of view, with an extreme desire to win.”
My personal growth?
“In these last few games, we got back to playing much more of a team. There are many of us in double figures. I focus a lot on defense, it’s the secret of our rise. Yes, my triples were important. I had gotten some wrong before and they were too important to get wrong. When we were forced to train with reduced ranks it showed. Each of us had to make up for absences. With Monopoli we worked a lot on how to limit Vanni Laquintana: we think we succeeded. We are a very instinctive team who like to run and not think. We are young and have little experience but we have a great desire to do well.”
Reconfirmations for next year?
“There’s a reason why people have grown fond of us and we’re proud of it. That would be a nice thing meet us all again here again next year.”
Our path?
“Personally I have always believed in the Playoffs. We don’t have to fear anyone. Because of the team we are, we can beat anyone and the victory against Orlandina is an example of this. We are very confident. This week there is more “hype” but the city has been involved from the beginning. Many people stop me, tell me they will come to the arena, others who live outside write to me that they will follow me via our “live” feeds on Facebook: it’s beautiful and it’s not just a “peak” for this week”.
Sunday’s match against Power Basket?
“It will be a very difficult race. The pressure is all on us: we can’t go wrong. We don’t think about the other conditions that require you to go through even in the event of a defeat. Let’s think about ourselves, let’s think about playing and doing well. We are working and improving on the aspect of the game that comes after our extensions: it’s a mental matter. In the last two races we have seen the change of pace. We are here and we want to get to the end. Despite, what could be a bit of right tension, we have to play with what we know how to do and how our Coach has taught us. For many of us, it will be the most important race of our careers.”
