Parini students at the Bank of Italy

Students of the Parini institute in Lecco taking lessons from the Bank of Italy. The young people, all attending fifth classes of the different courses of the Institute, are Valentina Purchasepace, Jessica Agosto, Alice Bravo, Marica Furiosi, Giulia Ganassa, Angelo Giannotta, Mattia La Fontana, Elisa Manzoni, Giacomo Panza, Gioele Rota, Laura Turba, Elisabetta Zago and Greta Zucchi. The project that involved them concerned in particular the activity carried out by the Institute through its internal system for assessing the creditworthiness of non-financial companies, which allows banks to use the loans granted to these companies as collateral in operations of Eurosystem monetary policy. In this context, the Bank of Italy must monitor the risk assumed by analyzing the quality of the credit portfolio presented by the banks and, therefore, the riskiness of the companies that make it up. The objective is to guarantee an adequate flow of liquidity to the banking system without incurring excessive risks that would lead to losses for the community.

Accompanying them in this stimulating experience were tutors from the Bank of Italy, with whom the students worked for an entire week at the historic Milanese headquarters in Piazza Cordusio, developing the project work assigned to them. On the last day, a moment was organized dedicated to the illustration of the final paper produced by the students upon completion of the course. The presentation also took place in Milan, in the presence of officials from the management staff of the Bank of Italy, the representatives for Financial Education and the project tutors, but it also involved, albeit remotely, classmates and Business economics teachers of the protagonist students, who connected with them via videoconference from the main hall of the Lecco institute to watch this final session as spectators.
