A leap into the lyrical wonder of time. At the Feltrinelli in Varese the Anthology of universal poetry

At the bookstore Feltrinelli of Varese will be presented today, Friday 19 April, starting at 6 pm the “Anthology of universal poetry”, a volume edited by Nicola Crocetti and Davide Brullo, with the aim of exploring global lyrical richness across the various eras. The presentation in the bookstore will be enriched by the presence of the poet Dino Azzalin and from the interpretations of Bianca Ponzio and Giorgia Clibiù dat the Paolo Grassi Academy of Dramatic Arts in Milan.

This collection represents a unique attempt of its kind to embrace poetry from all over the world and from all eras, from the Vedas to contemporary authors, passing through ancient Egyptian hymns up to twentieth-century greats such as Eugenio Montale, Seamus Heaney, Ezra Pound, Yves Bonnefoy and Mario Luzi.

So do the curators of the work. «The intent it is not critical, much less compiling: it’s about a leap into the lyrical wonder of every country and every time, of a journey into surprise and confusion. A book for life, to always keep on the bedside table, to divine the days, the anthology aims to be an imperishable work, a sort of “Arabian Nights” of world opera. It is therefore not reading for “experts”, but for the inspired; for those who, among the meshes of a seventeenth-century sonnet or among the obscure songs of an Icelandic bard, among the ejaculations of a desert shaman and in the poetic passages of a troubadour from Provence, find a comfort of curiosity, have the courage to probe your own soul. Poetry, as we know, is a risk and an antidote: reading it today is a gesture of smiling subversion.”
