“There was little transparency on the part of the Municipality.” The accusation comes, heavy as a boulder, from the residents of Legino, a neighborhood certainly not hostile to the administration which here obtained a large pool of votes in the local elections. But there were also inhabitants of the area of via Valcada, of Legino 167 at the assembly organized last night, Thursday 18 April, at the Sms Leginese.

All united by the concern that the route of the 2nd lot of the Aurelia Bis, solution number 7 of the stretch between Corso Ricci and Via Caravaggio which will almost entirely be in a tunnel, will have deleterious and harmful effects on their homes. They fear the friability of the rocks, all in light of the news on the finance investigation into the first section of the Aurelia Bis, in particular the reasons that initially led to delays and then to the interruption of the works.

It is Alba Barabino who reconstructs everything. “With the documents that we managed to obtain – he says – in a roundabout way because we accessed the documents in the Municipality but there was obstruction and the documentation has not yet been given to us, only now do we have something”.

The Aurelia Bis case came out last October in a meeting with some councilors in the neighbourhood. “On that occasion we asked for reassurances – explains Alba Barabino – and we were told that there was nothing to worry about, that nothing had been done. Then we learned that there are various routes and the Municipality tells us that yes will do the least impactful one, upstream”.

The solution will instead be another, route number 7, almost entirely in tunnels, which starts from Corso Ricci and ends in Via Caravaggio. With a length of 3864 meters it passes approximately in the Legino plain, under the Strà hill, under the building school, university, Parco Marabotto area, the skatepark and via Bresciana. A solution that would cost 273 million compared to 334 for the route further upstream, and which would range from approximately 22 meters deep for the Campus area to 70 for the excavations on the hill.

The route further upstream was discarded because, with the Corso Svizzera exit in progress, it would have created expropriation problems; in fact he would have foreseen the expropriation of the distributor and the Ruffinengo field.

“We know all these things from the documentation that we managed to obtain in a roundabout way – explained Alba Barabino – and for which we have accessed the documents from the Municipality but which has not yet given us anything. In the meeting held in February with the mayor and councilors we were told that there was no documentation. No one told us anything about the core samples because we found the workers under the house.” When the core samples were taken, some residents say they prevented the company from accessing their gardens.

“We ask for a less impactful route – said Laura Pardini – but there must be a stronger interlocutor than the simple citizen to deal with Anas. We ask those who administer us and who we voted for to represent us and serve the interests of the citizens. They told us nonsense, that the route would have passed through another area. I’m disappointed because I also put my face on it for this administration.”

“We ask for a meeting – said Maura Montalbetti – to discuss with the mayor and the competent councilors”. At the meeting, the residents of the areas affected by the route will ask the administration to work with Anas to opt for the route least farthest from the inhabited areas, the one upstream.

“In the case of the regasification terminal we saw the mayor who stood up and told Toti – said Dilvo Vannoni – but with the Aurelia Bis the attitude seems different and the population was not involved”.

The inhabitants of Legino and the areas part of the route will ask for the results of the core drilling tests but do not rule out turning to a geologist for advice and to have independent tests. “Now we have the documentation, this is the news – said a lady – even if it is not all that we asked for from the Municipality which it has not yet given us, and we demand answers and protection from the Municipality”.
