The third edition of “Alla Terra” in Catania

The third edition of “Alla Terra” arrives in the city, the event organized by Nuova Acropoli on the occasion of “World Earth Day”, announced by the UN, with the aim of expressing the philosophical foundation of Mother Earth and celebrating it with concrete actions.

Through philosophy we rediscover the profound reasons why our planet must be safeguarded, not just the utilitarian and material ones, and we renew the profound bond that has always united us with it. This year, Piazzale Candido Cannavò (in front of Piazza Galatea) will benefit from the intervention of active ecology and participatory citizenship, on Sunday 21 April from 9am. On Monday 22nd from 5.30pm the second appointment will be at the Palazzo della Cultura (former Palazzo Platamone) with a cultural meeting and artistic contributions.

Luis Martin Iacono, vice president of the association, inviting citizens to participate in the two events on Radio Fantastica – RMB, spoke about the “symbolic vision of what is to come, why – for example – we will plant trees, but in reality we will make gestures and whoever makes them will receive the greatest gift because by acting they will act on themselves”.

The first appointment will offer the opportunity to take care of a green space in our city, Piazzale Candido Cannavò, animating it in a party to celebrate the importance of our planet.

It is important to recall the roots that bind us to our Mother Earth and nourish the feeling of gratitude and responsibility towards her, acting for a better future, a future that begins with the actions we choose to carry out on a daily basis.

It will be possible, depending on one’s characteristics and predispositions (by getting involved and experimenting), to participate in the planting of trees and shrubs, to take part in cleaning, restoration and maintenance interventions, to participate in the artisan workshop which will see mandala weaving as the protagonist … and participate or assist in the “Alla Terra” dance, to join together with volunteers and citizens in the celebration of union with our planet. It will be a real celebration in honor of nature, which will allow those present to experience moments of union and put themselves together at the service of our city, in a selfless and generous way.

During the second meeting, the Palace of Culture will host a conference entitled “Ideas and new proposals for living in harmony with Mother Earth”, held by Luis Martin Iacono – vice president of Nuova Acropoli Catania – and by Antonella Russo – professor and biologist. The meeting will be enlivened by artistic homages to the earth through images, sounds, words, readings and the double bass of Maestro Carmelo La Manna. An invitation to gather food for thought from scientific and philosophical studies and discoveries.

The volunteers are waiting for you to experience a morning of sharing together, to recall human feelings of deep love, gratitude to the Earth and to make a difference together: everyone’s contribution is useful in building a more aware, respectful and responsible world towards the planet that hosts us.
