European elections and the future of the Union, the Lucca@Europa meetings continue to raise awareness among citizens of the electoral call of 9 June. The next appointment, organized by the civic engagement group, will be held on Friday (19 April) at 9pm in the auditorium of the Fondazione Banca del Monte di Lucca (in Piazza San Martino). Guest will be Prof. Valdo Spini, director of the magazine Quaderni del Circolo Rosselli and President of the Circolo Fratelli Rosselli Foundation, who will present the latest issue of the series, entirely dedicated to the European Union, entitled A shot forward for Europe. It will be introduced by Prof. Massimo Cellai.

The “Notebook” collects the interventions of qualified scholars who analyze crucial topics for understanding the current debate around the future of the EU. Issues that concern Europe’s ability to play a role in international relations, the functioning of European institutions, welfare and social policies, migration and human rights, fiscal policies, the challenges of the Green Deal, the ecological transition facing to climate change, the involvement of young people in the European integration project.

“The issue One shot forward for Europe therefore offers us the opportunity to delve deeper into these important themes – explain the organizers of the meeting – and allows us to understand what is at stake in the next elections for the renewal of the European Parliament : proceed with the construction of European unity or surrender to the conditioning of increasingly widespread nationalism in the various European countries, with possible serious political, economic and international consequences. Let us remember our responsibilities as citizens who love Europe as much as Italy and our cities.”

The Quaderni del Circolo Rosselli are a series of quarterly issues, of a monothematic nature, begun in 1981. They represent a qualified and precious tool for the in-depth study of historical and political themes.

The meeting on Friday (19 April) at 9pm in the Auditorium of the Banca del Monte Foundation (in Piazza San Martino in Lucca) is free and open to all citizens, who are invited to participate.
