Faentina, 140 million upgrade coming soon

Interventions by RFI and Trenitalia to upgrade the Tuscan railway lines with PNRR resources are currently being planned. Among these, also the Faentina line. Although all the works in the pipeline will contribute to significantly increasing the efficiency of the service, the Tuscany Region asks RFI to present each intervention, line by line, to the Mayors of the Municipalities involved.

Meetings with local administrators will therefore begin next week aimed at illustrating and discussing the investment projects and the consequences of temporary construction sites on the railway service. For the president of the region and the councilor for infrastructure of the region, the main objective of the meetings will be to share information with the territories and evaluate every solution capable of reducing commuter inconvenience as much as possible; including those of Faentina, already severely tested by the interruption caused in 2023 by landslides in the Emilian territory.

Short, well-organised construction sites that protect the regular circulation of trains as much as possible: this is what the Region is asking RFI to do, which is therefore invited to consider from now on also carrying out the works during night time slots. For the Region, both the scheduling of interruptions and the methods of intervention, as well as the preparation of the related replacement services, must be evaluated in detail with the Authority and the Municipalities and be communicated in full compliance with the service contract.

NOTE. The press release was drafted in an impersonal form in compliance with the provisions on equal conditions taken with the calling of the electoral rallies for the European and administrative elections of 8 and 9 June 2024
