ANCONA – The port changes face. 2024, as the port system authority has set it, has everything it takes to be the turning point year. Sums of 63.5 million euros have been allocated to be used in key works that will put the airport in a position to be able to make the leap in quality. Not just ongoing designs, but construction sites ready to be inaugurated. The first: that for the electrification of the docks. The cold-ironing of the historic port is worth 7 million euros.

The integrated contract was awarded at the end of February. The executive planning is now underway and the works must be delivered by Sogesid to the contractor by 30 June. A fundamental intervention for the Doric port which will allow the docking of latest generation ships and in line with the sustainability standards required for coexistence with a city center that extends along a proximity axis.

Procurement

The contract for the works on platform 23 is scheduled for this year, for which the disciplinary tender notice is currently being defined (17 million euros) and, following the procedural agreement with Fincantieri, the completion of the design for the construction of the second preparation dock (14.4 million euros) and the extension of the dry dock (20 million) and the consequent calls for tenders in compliance with the operation of the plant. On 24 April the technical-functional adaptation of the extension of the quay will be submitted to the Management Committee of the Port System Authority. The works for platform 27 were also awarded, with an investment of 37 million. The successful tenderer has obtained authorization for dredging preparatory to the execution of the works and management of the sediments by the Marche Region and is preparing the sediment storage tank. Still on the subject of dredging: a total investment of 16.5 million euros is planned for the interventions on quay 26. The characterization has been completed and the relevant authorizations are being obtained to start the contracting of the works within the year.

The priorities

The three-year planning of services and supplies amounts to 15.62 million euros in 2024. Absolute priority is given to the planning of the interventions necessary to complete the port master plan to outline the future structure of the port with the movement of the port’s ferry terminals to the sea: read Peninsula. Pharaonic work with an investment forecast of 300 million euros, but for which it remains difficult to define the implementation times. Certainly less impactful, but of fundamental use, is the new passenger terminal in the former Fiera della Pesca area. Overall, 1.25 million euros have been allocated for the planning currently underway. The work aims to improve passenger reception services and create a service center capable of supporting the onshore needs of the ferry sector.

Digitalisation

Then there is a whole game that is played within the organization and concerns the modernization of digital systems and services. For example: 3.6 million euros were allocated to framework agreements for engineering services and technical and environmental analyses. Tool that allows, with a single procedure, rapid access to external design services, thus reducing service assignment times. And then 1.7 million from Pnrr for the strengthening of the Port community system services and artificial intelligence for the digitalisation of the institution.
