Companies-universities-training: here is the Apuane Learning Center

MASSA-CARRARA – Baker Hughes enriches the industrial triangle that connects its production sites in Florence, Massa and Avenza with a new structure dedicated to training. This is the Apuane Learning Center inaugurated today inside the Massa plant in the presence of the company management and regional and local institutions, including the regional councilor Alessandra Nardini, the mayor of Massa Francesco Persiani, the mayor of Carrara Serena Arrighi and the deputy director of Confindustria Toscana Centro e Costa, Umberto Paoletti.

The new structure covers an area of over 800 m2 and can accommodate up to 200 people. Equipped with six multifunctional training classrooms, as well as other smaller spaces, the Apuane Learning Center will work in synergy with the Florence Learning Center in Florence, further strengthening the collaboration between the group’s Tuscan factories and local partners. The work is part of an overall investment of approximately 120 million euros carried out by Baker Hughes over the last five years in its factories in Massa and Avenza, to further expand production capabilities and continue to improve safety, sustainability and quality standards . Currently, around 2,600 people work between Massa and Avenza, including direct and indirect employees.

“As a technology company serving energy and industry, we know how important it is to invest in innovation, training and research. The Apuane Learning Center represents a further step forward in our commitment to developing people’s skills and to making this area even more attractive: a dynamic environment, in fact, is a crucial factor for talents looking for professional and personal growth opportunities, and makes lifelong learning a pillar for employability and for the sustainable and inclusive development of society”, says Massimiliano Turci, Director of the Baker Hughes plant in Massa.

Baker Hughes will open this center to the local community, making it available both for the training of its commercial and industrial partners, and for local bodies and associations that want to organize their own events, and to build new growth opportunities for students. In fact, it will host some projects in collaboration with the Universities of Florence, Pisa and Genoa, as well as an important part of the new Neomech23 path recently launched with ITS Prime, the Tuscan Mechatronic Higher Technological Institute. Baker Hughes’ new investments further strengthen the company’s presence in the Apuan territory: last June, in fact, two new production lines were inaugurated at the Massa site, and the expansion of the Avenza which, once completed, will allow it to go from 19 module construction areas to 23 by the end of 2024, with a further expansion to 27 already planned.
