The ASL Toscana Sud Est communicates that they were published on April 15th by Estar two calls for courses to become healthcare social worker (OSS) that affect their own structures. The first, 1000 hours, is the complete basic one; the second, of 400 hours, is reserved for those who hold the qualification certificate of basic care worker or equivalent.
This professional figure carries out his activity in both the social and healthcare sectors, in social-welfare and social-health services, residential or semi-residential, in a hospital environment and at the patient’s home, in collaboration with the other professional operators responsible for health and social assistance, according to the criterion of multi-professional work. The OSS is the operator who, following the qualification certificate obtained at the end of specific professional training, carries out activities aimed at:
• to satisfy the person’s primary needs, within their areas of expertise, in both a social and healthcare context;
• to promote the well-being and autonomy of the patient.

Basic training courses
A maximum of 120 places will be activated based on the results of the application investigation: Arezzo (30/60 places); Grosseto (30/60 places); Siena (30/60 places).
For theUSL South-East Tuscany Company the training of an additional 1000 hour class is envisaged to be assigned to one of the three operational locations (Arezzo, Siena or Grosseto). Once the three classes established for Arezzo, Siena and Grosseto have been formed, if the relative ranking is not completely used, the preferences expressed in the further remaining questions will be analysed. The location for which the greatest number of priority preferences has been expressed will be the one where the further course will be activated.
The course involves alternating classroom training and operational contextualization through practical exercises in the laboratory and internship activities divided respectively into the following hours:
Frontal/interactive teaching 397 hours
84 hour laboratory
Internship 519 hours
The deadline set for the submission of applications and related documentation is peremptory and must take place no later than 12pm on June 14, 2024.
Shortened courses for those who hold the basic care worker qualification certificate or equivalent
90 places will be activated: Arezzo (30 places); Siena University Hospital (30 places): Grosseto (30 places).
The course involves alternating classroom training and operational contextualization through practical exercises in the laboratory and internship activities divided respectively into the following hours:
Frontal/interactive teaching 150 hours
60 hour laboratory
Internship 190 hours
The deadline set for the submission of applications and related documentation is peremptory and must take place no later than 12pm on May 15, 2024.
