BUSTO ARSIZIO – «With the construction site the market moves behind there, towards via Muratori. Once the works are finished, it will take advantage of the square but also of the ground floor of the new car park.” Mayor Emanuele Antonelli reassures the operators of the weekly market in Piazza dei Bersaglieri, an area that from September 2024 it will become a construction site for the regeneration with the “Fili Urbani” project and the construction of the new multi-storey car park.
The back and forth
At the presentation of the tangible and intangible actions of the “Fili Urbani” project at Molini Marzolia street vendor from the Busto market expresses his concerns to the municipal administrators: «We are 120 operators, we won’t stay in that square regenerated. For us it is an important problem.” Mayor Antonelli takes care of dispelling fears directly: «The market remains – the mayor’s commitment – with the start of the construction site it will move to the back, where the brewery is, as agreed with the operators, and one day will use the square, plus the ground floor of the multi-storey car park, therefore indoors, which will be an improvement for food banks. And the size of the area remains more or less the current one. The market is also very important for us.”
Trouble ahead
In short, it outlines itself a semi-covered market future thanks to the new layout of the square in the Filii Urbani format. But we will have to wait until 2026, the expected date of completion of the works that will revolutionize Piazza dei Bersaglieri. «It will be two years of suffering – Mayor Antonelli does not hide it – not only for you at the market but for all the PNRR construction sites that will open in the city. But then you will forget about the inconveniences».
