With the assignment of the farmers’ market of San Pasquale in Bari the local food season opens in the city in municipal food hub in Via Amendola 106made up of physical and virtual spaces for farmers to shop, but also a meeting and aggregation point aimed at all the economic, social and cultural realities of the city of Bari. The news was given by Coldiretti Puglia, in reference to the official assignment of the market farmer by the municipal offices of the property located in via Amendola 106, to the leader of AGRI MARKET made up of the network of agricultural businesses of Campagna Amica, with the director of the Department of Economic Development, Michele Cassano, the Councilor for Economic Development of the Municipality of Bari, Carla Palone and the Mayor of Bari, Antonio Decaro.

“The farmers’ market is an opportunity to rediscover our excellence and open ourselves to a food culture capable of enhancing our traditions. The farmers’ market is also a hub where the land of Bari meets through a city-countryside social pact which will find a response and a prestigious showcase in this place”, said the Mayor of Bari Decaro in “thanking Coldiretti for accepting this new challenge that the city of Bari has launched. In recent years we have worked a lot together, creating extraordinary events that have projected Bari onto the national scene and which, above all, have offered the people of Bari another perspective on our traditional food and markets. The structure in via Amendola has not had a happy life, there is no point in denying it, but if there is one thing that we have learned to do in recent years it is to apologize when we make mistakes and not to give up in the face of difficulties. Because it doesn’t mean that ideas are always successful, you can make mistakes, you can go back and start again. Today a new life begins for the market in via Amendola and I am sure that the experience, strength and quality of the activities proposed by the network of agricultural businesses will make the difference”.

The farmers’ market in Via Amendola 106 will be a place of sale and promotion of the “best of the agricultural production of the province of Bari and the region”, as well as a meeting and aggregation point aimed at all the economic, social and cultural realities of the city of Bari” , explained the director of Coldiretti Puglia, Pietro Piccioni, underlining that “it will be a place suitable for children and the elderly through the use of external spaces witheducational and social gardenwhere peasant cuisine will be offered with agrichef who will give useful advice to consumers live, as well as the organisation experiential and sensorial workshops of oil, cheese, wine and more, always in the name of protecting the environment and because plastic free and for the careful management of waste”. “We managed to entrust the first market to farmers who in a public building will open the city to local food, with agricultural producers who during the day but also with evening events they will bring to the tables of consumers in Bari, but also in the rest of the province, the agricultural and agri-food products of the rural tradition of our province and our region”, explained branch councilor Palone.

Food will be the star of the market for at least 3 days open a week, with the large number of companies involved which allows coverage in terms of food supply for the various local productions, such as fruit and vegetables, milk, cheeses and dairy products, meat, eggs, sausages and cured meats, honey and derived products, jams, marmalades and preserves, pickles and pickles, fruit juices, flours, oil, wine, spirits and beer, plants, flowers, officinal and aromatic herbs, bread, baked goods, fresh pasta, but also street food stations, where they will be show cooking and serving of typical peasant dishes, prepared by peasant chefs.
