L’exclusion of Pistoiese from the Serie D championship it is now known, efforts must now be concentrated on the future and on the restart. We will obviously start from the bankruptcy of the club, and consequently from new investors, and precisely on this second point, in recent days there has been a small opening on the part of the Pistoia Basket City Consortium. But the declaration of greatest interest, complete with a letter to the city mayor, came from the entrepreneur Sergio Iorio, who said he was available to put together a specific type of project.
The news, however, is relaunched by pistoiasport.com, which even talks about a possible restart from Serie D. As he writes, “federal regulations in hand, it is possible to transfer the sporting title of a club from one city to another as long as both do part of the same province. Wanting to be even more explicit, the title of Aglianese, by law, could be transferred to Pistoia […] And for Iorio, Aglianese is not exactly an unknown reality. Fabio Fossati, current Neroverde president, recently denied interest in Pistoiese. But it is equally true that Iorio, in recent months, has appeared several times in the stands of the “Bellucci” and above all already knows some members of the Aglianese general staff. Moreover, it is at least curious that the operative men who gave life to the new Aglianese in the summer after the transfer of the majority shares of the club from Perriello to Fossati were the same ones that Iorio had announced he wanted to include in the Pistoiese at the time he went close to joining the club as a minority member.”
Nothing is certain yet, but clearly starting from Serie D would have rather considerable advantages, trivially also in terms of image. There are only three days left until the end of the tournament, then everything will be clearer.
