Vinitaly, important confirmations from operators and the public for the quality of Abruzzo wine which confirms itself as a key sector for the regional economy. It closed yesterday Vinitaly which saw Abruzzo wines stand out during the international event with an increasingly growing interest from operators in the sector. Applause for the work of the Consortium by the governor of the Region and the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, who thanks to their presence reiterated the important role of protecting and enhancing Abruzzo wine production. A supply chain which in the two-year period 2022-2023 recorded an 11% increase in the export turnover of Abruzzo wines, for a total turnover of 255 million euros.
Protagonists, right from the graphic image of the stand, are the 4 provincial sub-areas that characterize the Abruzzo DOC, both red and white: Pescara Hills; Teramo Hills; Lands of L’Aquila; Lands of Chieti. The Superiore mention for Pecorino d’Abruzzo and Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo makes its debut, with a selection of labels being tasted for the first time.
Another great novelty of 2024 was the presentation of Trabocco Spumante D’Abruzzo which immediately attracted the attention especially of the younger ones also thanks to the afternoon space dedicated to Trabocco and Mixology with 5 cocktails dedicated to the native Abruzzo bubbles. The Consortium also carried out activities in the heart of the city of Verona, during these days of the fair, inside the historic Romeo venue to broaden its range of action and also reach the many wine lovers present.

“We are satisfied and also proud of the great visibility that Abruzzo has been able to enjoy in recent days. With the Abruzzo Model we have introduced some great innovations which now allow us to be much more competitive in the market. The first confirmations came from the data of our wines. Montepulciano d’Abruzzo was in 4th place in terms of sales volumes in Italy, while Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo recorded an increase of 19%, placing it in first place also in terms of sales variations”, he explains Alessandro Nicodemipresident of the Consortium.
The new vintages have received appreciation: Montepulciano d’Abruzzo recognized as one of the most loved reds on the market, but the whites were also very good with the superior Pecorino d’Abruzzo on the shields which attracted the most attentive palates and which was talked about a lot at the fair, Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo continues to establish itself as a much loved and requested pink proposal.
The Consortium, after these four days, is ready to start again with the many initiatives in the area and in the most important international markets.
