Torgiano 3rd edition of the “Future Female”

Welfare and sustainability of women’s work” aimed at public and private companies that promote the culture of gender diversity. The awards ceremony

Torgiano, 18 April 2024 – The Future Female awards ceremony took place in Torgiano, in the Sala Sant’Antonio, in the presence of numerous guests, including institutional figures, sector experts, trade associations, local excellence and the companies, protagonists undisputed highlights of the evening.

The attention of companies towards female welfare is growing more and more. This is confirmed by the marked increase in registrations this year for the “Future Female” Award. Welfare and sustainability of women’s work” aimed at companies, both private and public (through the CUG-Single Guarantee Committees for regional equal opportunities) which promote the culture of gender diversity and which have distinguished themselves within the Umbrian regional context aiming for organizational models truly capable of listening to and enhancing female potential, or which have even bet on gender certification, aimed at companies based on the new Decree, published in the Official Journal on 1.7.2022.

“This year the significant participation of Umbrian companies highlights the growing attention to corporate well-being, which is increasingly an essential and conditioning requirement for the work choices of young people, but in particular of women, who do not want to give up the role of mothers looking for a correct conciliation between family and work – recalled the President of the Sovrapensiero Association, Elena Capuccella, who established the Award – and focuses on the real need for welfare aimed at women, which is able to recognize and enhance their talents”

“The Award has opened up to the public administration through the CUGs – recalls the Equality councilor of the Umbria Region, Rosita Garzi – which work against gender discrimination and for organizational well-being. The collaboration with the Aur also continues on gender asymmetries which closely concern the Umbria Region, where in 2022 the female employment rate aged 15-64 is 58.1% while the male employment rate is expected to be 71.8%. ”. It has been shown that the working woman who manages to harmonize her private and professional life is more inclined to have children and corporate welfare can stem the problem of demographic decline that our country has”

The Mayor of Torgiano, Eridano Liberti, opened the proceedings by thanking the Sovrapensiero Association and the Councilor of Equality for choosing Torgiano to celebrate companies, because the entrepreneurial fabric is the lifeblood of the territories and the many excellences of the region must be valorised and rewarded with fundamental awards such as the Future Female which celebrates female talents.

MEP Francesca Peppucci then intervened and examined the combination of women and work in the European context: “Italy – she said – is second to last after Greece in terms of the female employment rate, we are at 52.1 percent, in slight recovery after Covid, but ahead of us are much poorer countries, such as Cyprus, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary. The European average female employment rate is over 65 percent. A fact that makes us reflect and which must be a stimulus to fill this gender gap linked to the professional sphere as soon as possible.”

Paola Fioroni, Vice President of the Legislative Assembly, wanted to recall the many projects that the Umbria Region is implementing to encourage female employment. “The data that emerged previously are compensated by female entrepreneurship that excels. There are many successful female entrepreneurs who are at the top of many companies they have created and who are now well integrated into the regional economic fabric”.

Also participating in the award was Michele Michelini, Director of Economic Development of the Umbria Region, who in recognizing the determination of women in doing business explained how in the Regional Authority there is a high number of female employees but at the management level of the structure there are still all men. In closing, Michelini said he was honored by the close collaboration that was established with Councilor Rosita Garzi who had the merit of introducing him to the Sovrapensiero association and the “Future Female”, an important award that has the merit of highlighting the actions concrete measures of corporate welfare because: “corporate welfare is the future of doing business”.

Also this year the Equality Councilor of the Umbria Region and the Sovrapensiero Association examined the applications received, aided by the evaluation committee, present at the Event and composed of the President, Equality Councilor of the Umbria Region, Rosita Garzi; the Vice President, President of the Sovrapensiero Association, Elena Capuccella; the Vice President, President of the regional Equal Opportunities Centre, Caterina Grechi.

The Councilors in the figures of: President of the Perugia territorial section of Confindustria Federico Malizia; CEO & Founder Planner Acacia Group Francesco Pace; Financial Planner “We Are team” Tiziano Sordini; Vice President of the Female Entrepreneurship Committee, Umbria Chamber of Commerce Claudia Franceschelli, President of ASSOGAL Umbria Francesca Caproni; Delegate member for Umbria of the Nilde Iotti Foundation, Lorena Pesaresi; Outgoing President of FIDAPA BPW Italy-Sez.Todi, Eleonora Magnanini; and the Councilors of Equality, Province of Perugia and Terni, Giuliana Astarita and Vittorina Sbaraglini respectively.

The ranking saw Meccanotecnica Umbra Spa in first place overall, Becchetti Spa and Ti Style It Srl in second place ex aequo, Istituto San Francesco Srl, Mi.Lani Group Srl Itinera Scuola On Line and Kimia Spa in third place ex aequo.

For public administration CUGs, first place was the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Crafts and Agriculture of Umbria.

The award also included special mentions for companies that have distinguished themselves in specific sectors, and with stories of particular relevance. The SPECIAL MENTIONS “Woman” went to Italiana Liquori e Natura Srl, the “Health and Social” one went to A.SA.D. Società Cooperativa Sociale and Chirofisiogen Center Srl, while the “Training” mention was awarded to Nuova Petite Srl.

Thanks to participation in the previous editions of the “Future Female”, Sintagma Srl and Umbra Servizi Srl have obtained the Gender Equality Certification. They received a “special” recognition dedicated to this, together with that obtained from Sviluppumbria Spa, with the “Presidency” Award and the “Certificate of Merit” from CIAM Spa.

The prizes that were awarded consisted of creations, jewels and valuable artefacts, created by the expert hands of local artists, such as Anna Lisa Piccioni “La Mì Cocca”, Marina Arene “Gioielli di Spezie”, Steroglass, the artist Simona Chipi, and finally by the cartoonist Giordano Sabato. The evening was moderated by the Vice President of the Order of Journalists, and Vice President of the Sovrapensiero Association, Donatella Binaglia.

The spirit of the Award is also to enhance and promote the territories of the region, which is why this year Torgiano, counted among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, was chosen for the award ceremony.
