LECCE – May 1st in Lecce full of tourists, with a film set. In the small square of the Greek Church, in the heart of the historic centre, a stone’s throw from the Basilica of Santa Croce and Piazza Sant’Oronzo, the last filming of the American film “Under the Stars” is underway, which began last month between Otranto, Campi Salentina and the Casalabate marina on the Adriatic.
To close the film which among the actors includes the Hollywood star, Andy Garcia, Golden Globe winner in 1991 for the film “The Godfather” and Oscar candidate for the same film, the production organized a colorful fruit and vegetable market, among the whose stalls are wandered by the numerous extras recruited in every corner of Salento.
During the morning, filming in the square of the Greek Church was preceded by interiors shot in the “La Romana” ice cream shop.
Directed by the American director Michelle Danner, internationally renowned teachers of, among others, Penelope Cruz, Salma Hayek and Gerard Butler, in “Under the Stars” the Italian Chiara Iezzi also stars, returning from the successes of the TV series “Mare Fuori”, as well as singer of the pop duo Paola & Chiara, the Australian Toni Collette seen in “Cena con delitto”, the English Alex Pettyfer (“A butler in the White House”), and the Argentine Eva De Dominici (“Blood in the Mouth” ).
Made with the support of the Apulia Film Commission, the film tells the story of a young writer, who, accompanied by his beloved aunt, is looking for inspiration to complete a novel.
Edited by Arclight Film, a major US producer, the film should also be distributed in Italy at the beginning of autumn.
