TURIN – The Turin Prosecutor’s Office has opened a file to shed light on the case of 35-year-old Giuseppe Stilo, resident in the province of Cuneo,
died yesterday after falling ill on the Ryanair Turin-Lamezia Terme flight.
At the moment there are no suspects or hypotheses of crime. The magistrates ordered an autopsy.
The facts
Stilo, who was traveling with his pregnant wife who was sitting far away, had a illness halfway on the way to Lamezia.
At that point, the captain of Ryanair flight FR8780R requested emergency landing authorization, but none of the airports contacted gave a positive response, so the plane returned to Turin.
The man was first helped by two doctors with on-board defibrillators; then, once on the ground, the airport’s doctors and nurses intervened, but there was nothing they could do for him: he died in the ambulance. Among the hypotheses is that of cardiac arrest.
His wife fell ill and was transported by a 118 ambulance to Cirié hospital.
Giuseppe Stilo had been hired on a permanent basis at Ferrero.
