Stefano Bonaccini’s decision to run for the European Parliament now seems almost certain. A choice that inevitably upsets the balance of Emilia-Romagna politics. And which would pave the way for early elections, a list of names for possible successors began a few days ago. In addition to the name of De Pascale, mayor of Ravenna, that of Enzo Lattuca, mayor of Cesena, also came out among the rumors.

But it is the outgoing mayor himself who denies this hypothesis, Ansa reports it: “I am already busy and in the midst of the electoral campaign for the municipal elections of Cesena (on 8 and 9 June, ed.). Besides the honor of being mentioned, I cannot be in the match”. The current mayor of Cesena, Enzo Lattuca, clarified this in a press point on the sidelines of the plenary of the European Council of the Regions, on the hypothesis of succeeding Stefano Bonaccini at the helm of the Emilia-Romagna region in view of an increasingly probable candidacy of the latter at the European elections Lattuca says he is “certain that” the Democratic Party will not have problems with the names: “We have various solutions and we will be able to give a future to the government of Emilia Romagna by maintaining firm principles but also knowing how to innovate, as we have always done,” he underlined.
