The mayor of Licata, Angelo Balsamo, has revoked the role of director of the municipal police department and demographic services from Gaetano Di Giovanni arrested last week for the accusation of corruption in competition. The news was reported today in the newspaper Sicily.
Di Giovanni, commander of the municipal police of Agrigento and chief of staff of the mayor Francesco Miccichè, was busy two days a week at the Municipality of Licata where, over time, he had alternated at the helm of all four areas.

Di Giovanni, 59 years old, at the time of the events, i.e. in the summer of 2021, manager of the socio-healthcare district of Agrigento, is accused of having favored the assignment of the home care service for non-self-sufficient elderly people (for a total of 204,051 euros) to the Medea company and the assignment of social welfare services in the Municipalities of Santa Elisabetta and Agrigento (for a total amount of 89,355 euros) to the Nido d’Argento coop, receiving from the representatives of the company, in at least three tranches , the total sum of 7,500 euros.
