The official Facebook page of Sorrento underlines, with good reason, the goal of salvation reached two days early:
“We’ll be there again next year! Thanks to all those who participated in this which we can define – without fear of contradiction – as a great sporting undertaking.
Nobody or almost nobody, or perhaps nobody except us, believed in the possibility of remaining among the professionals of Sorrento. Everyone or almost everyone predicted us as one of the main suspects for direct relegation, let alone who could have imagined that the Rossoneri would even avoid the play outs.
We will be there because we deserved it by throwing our hearts over the obstacle in a championship played entirely away from home but with the support of an EXTRAORDINARY SUPPORT that we will never stop thanking for the support it has given to all of us.
We will be there next year hoping to return home as soon as possible. Now we will do everything we can to end this season in the best possible way: in the meantime, thanks again to everyone who was close to us!”.
Sorrento played the entire championship away, so much so that the match against Catania will be played at the stadium Alfredo Viviani of Potenza (Sunday 21 April at 8.00 pm). An additional reason to be proud to celebrate a salvation that is extremely difficult to achieve, with the Sorrento faithful audience forced to travel kilometers to follow their favorite team even when they should have been playing at home.
The Catania must be hungrier of an opponent who already has mathematical salvation in his pocket. Let’s go and get these three points.
