PESCARA. «”Suspended” was born in a specific moment of emergency for Italy. An emergency that turned out to be worldwide. Borders closed, businesses closed, everyone locked in their homes. Covid-19 has stirred up contrasting sensations and new hopes that I wanted to document, with the many faces and voices of those who did not experience the Italian lockdown in person.” This is how the author Martina Dall’Ara presents her work, the fourth appointment with Docudì – Documentary Cinema Competition taking place in Pescara: the screening, followed by the meeting with the director, is for tomorrow, 6.45 pm, at the Cerulli auditorium – House of Arts. Entrance is free. “Suspended – Italians stuck abroad during the 2020 pandemic” collects faces, voices and stories from 50 countries around the world. Through impressive research and the director’s sociological gaze, one hundred life experiences of Italians in foreign places reveal perceptions and states of mind of a completely unexpected isolation, between uncertainty and confidence in the future. Windows on the world, which reconstruct the most important and overwhelming phenomenon of 2020. Martina Dall’Ara was born in Cesena in 1990. She worked on the docufilm “Italy in a Day – Un giorno da italiani”, directed by Gabriele Salvatores. Her short film “UnControl Room” wins Best Documentary at the DocUnder30 in Bologna, then comes the Cinema del Reale Award for the docufilm “Proprio Destino”.
