“The seventh rested”, interview with Benedetto Casillo

“The seventh rested” on Saturday 20 April at the Casa della Pace Auditorium “Angelo Frammartino di Caulonia” for the 2023/2024 season of AMA Calabria. The interview with Benedetto Casillo

A few hours after the staging of the show “the Seventh rested”, exclusively in our region, thanks to AMA Calabria, on Saturday 20 April at the Casa della Pace Auditorium “Angelo Frammartino di Caulonia”, we had the opportunity to do two chat with the protagonist Benedetto Casillo, a long-time actor with a great history of theater and cinema behind him.

“The seventh rested” is «a comic thriller in which the Neapolitan nature made up of misunderstandings, misfortunes, laughter and twists» has cheered and continues to cheer the Italian public through the seasons and touching different generations, thanks to a team that for 30 years he has performed together on the stages of the large and small theaters of our country.

You don’t change the team that wins, to use a football term, also because in order to keep up the pace of a “light and entertaining story as an antidote to the ugliness that surrounds us” a lot of synergy is needed between all the members of the staff, both on stage and behind, and a certain amount of concentration, the same that Benedetto Casillo always finds just before taking the stage: «I always prepare myself before entering the stage. Despite the long experience, every evening is different, because the audience is always different and the emotion is great, the desire to excite is always great”.

A show that plays on some stereotypes of Italianness – in this case made even more picturesque by Neapolitan verve – subverting others: the news of the escape from North to South of a dangerous criminal reminds us that «as De Crescenzo said, everyone is always south of something.”

An event not to be missed, in short, to witness the great Italian theater once again.
