Catania, an “intermodal hub” for buses at the airport, project approved

Administratively approved the final project ofintermodal hub which will have to be built near theFontanarossa airport of Catania. The structure, as announced by the mayor Enrico Trantinowill be “in correspondence with the current AMTS parking. This is an important work that will allow interchange between the subway (once the network has been extended to the airport), extra-urban buses and the railway”. The project is the work of a group with One Works of Milan, together with Stancanelli Russo Associati and Comma Engineering Società Cooperativa di Engineering of Catania it had been awarded in December 2022, during the previous administration. The estimated amount for the work is 5 million euros.

“There design choice – continues the mayor of Catania, who underlines how the process started from the previous administration in which he was councilor for public works – it was decided by a jury, following a competition. The procedure now involves the drafting of the executive project and, subsequently, the tender and execution of the works. Once completed, it will prevent many cars and buses from entering the city, thus easing city traffic. I understand that much more is needed, but no one will be able to doubt our dynamism”, concludes Trantino.
