The Gup of the Court of Avellino, Paolo Cassano, has ordered the indictment of two individuals accused of the arson of a vehicle, an event which also caused damage to the structure of a nearby house and constituted a threat to the gas meters located in Pago Vallo Lauro. The judicial proceedings will begin on 15 October before the single judge of the Court of Avellino, Gilda Zarrella.
The origin of the fact dates back to an alleged personal revenge against the ex-partner of one of the two defendants, as emerged from the investigations conducted by the officers of the Lauro Police Station following the fire that destroyed a car on 4 May 2023 Smart owned by a young local woman.
The events took place in Largo Salvatore Lombardo, and the investigations entrusted to the agents under the command of the deputy commissioner Elio Iannuzzi immediately focused on the woman’s previous partner, a twenty-seven-year-old individual from Marigliano. The Deputy Public Prosecutor of Avellino, Luigi Iglio, responsible for coordinating the police investigations, signed the request for indictment for threats and arson against the man.
Two hypotheses of crime were put forward, with the participation of the twenty-seven-year-old’s new partner, also twenty-four from Marigliano. The two defendants are accused of involvement in the fire of the Smart car. Two episodes are also attributed to the twenty-seven-year-old alone, which occurred in the same period and close in time to the main events, in which he allegedly threatened his ex-partner, using expressions such as “I’ll burn you alive”, in relation to unresolved sentimental issues. The two defendants will have the opportunity to present their position to the Public Prosecutor, as they are at risk of prosecution for the arson and threats. The defendants are assisted by the lawyer Fortuna Ammendola of the Nola Bar, while the injured parties are represented by the lawyer Antonio Mercogliano.
