The Inaugural Concert will take place on Thursday 18 April 2024 at 9.15 pm in Perugia, at the Capitini Auditorium, on the occasion of the celebrations for the tenth anniversary of the Regional Youth Orchestra of Umbria. It is a real symphony orchestra made up of over 100 children between the ages of 11 and 23, coming from all the schools in the region. This goal was carried out by a group of teachers from music schools and music high schools thanks to the support, on the one hand, of the Regional School Office from which the initiative started, and on the other, of the Sant’Anna Foundation which the orchestra is financed by the Municipality of Deruta, the operational headquarters of OGiReUm, and the La Casa degli Artisti di Perugia association for the administrative part. Particular thanks must be given to all the young people who have followed one another over the years and to their families, who supported them in their choice to dedicate themselves to this demanding musical activity. In addition to the specific musical aspect and the professional growth towards which the orchestra’s activity is aimed, we must not neglect all the educational and growth aspects that musical practice brings with it. Respect, sharing, commitment, merit, responsibility, are just some of the aspects that can make young people stronger and more aware in this sector where the path is so difficult to follow. We therefore hope for support, in addition to those already present, from regional institutions such as the Umbria Region and the Music Conservatories for a consolidated reality which, however, needs to be supported to continue to operate effectively and productively with young people who dedicate themselves to music , especially if we consider that orchestras of this type are now a reality that exists in many regions.
