With the patronage of the Municipality of Mazara del Vallo, the “San Vito Onlus” Foundation

organized the screening of the short film “Omayma, orme del tempo” on Thursday 18 April: a short film written by Paolo Pintacuda and directed by Fabio Schifilliti, based on the story of Omayma Benghaloum, the 34-year-old Tunisian cultural mediator, mother of 4 daughters, beaten to death by her husband in 2015 in Messina.

Two events, both at the Grillo cinema: at 10.30 am the screening reserved for students of the city’s schools; in the afternoon, at 6.30 pm, the screening for adults. The screening is part of the “Women’s Voice” initiative, with a debate that will take place following the screening itself.

Some scenes of the “short” were filmed in Mazara del Vallo. The project “returns the spotlight” on a dramatic story in order to raise awareness among the community, and especially the younger ones, on the important social issues of feminicide and immigration, inviting reflection and discussion.

For this initiative, the following associations collaborate with the Foundation: Avo, Palma vitae, Euro-Arab Institute, Amici della musica, Avis Mazara, MpV, Azione Cattolica, Cpas, Unitalsi, Uildm, Yalla, anti-violence center “Casa di Venere”. The ticket to attend the afternoon screening costs 5 euros.
