«We will run divided in the first round»

BARI – There will be no reconciliation between the center-left candidates for the Bari municipal elections, Michele Laforgia, also supported by M5s and Convention, and Vito Leccese, supported by Pd, Verdi and Action: the two sides will be divided in the first round. They announced it in a shared note: «We confirm – they say – our desire to both remain in the field in view of the electoral appointment of 8 and 9 June. Even if we are divided in the first round, we want to strongly reiterate that we are both on the same side, an alternative to an arrogant right.”

«We want to point out – continue Laforgia and Leccese – that the dialogue between us has never stopped. That we both accepted the candidacy for mayor with the aim not of dividing, but of uniting progressive forces. And that both of us, in recent weeks, have been looking for a solution that could summarize the different needs of the parties, movements and associations that make up the progressive front. It was not possible and we need to acknowledge this, without fueling unnecessary recriminations and putting an end to all the controversies that end up increasing uncertainty and disorientation in our electorate. We need to go back to talking about the city, its future and our proposals for the next five years of government.” The two candidates then announce that «even if we will be divided in the first round, we want to strongly reiterate that we are both on the same side, an alternative to an arrogant right, devoid of arguments, retrograde in terms of rights, social and environmental justice. A right wing with Northern League influence, which with the wicked project of differentiated autonomy mortifies the territories and communities of the south of our country.”

«In the next few hours we will propose to the political forces that support our candidacies a pact that includes a common commitment to guarantee the transparency of all the lists». This was announced by the mayoral candidates of the center-left of Bari, Michele Laforgia (M5S, SI, Psi and others) and Vito Leccese (Pd, Verdi and others), in the joint note in which they announced that they will present themselves divided in the Bari municipal elections in June.

IN CASE OF BALLOT MUTUAL SUPPORT

«Mutual support in the event of a run-off and, if one of us is elected mayor, the willingness to build a government team that enhances the experiences and skills of both sides». This was announced by the mayoral candidates of the center-left of Bari, Michele Laforgia (M5S, SI, Psi and others) and Vito Leccese (Pd, Verdi and others), in the joint note in which they announced that they will present themselves divided in the municipal elections of Bari.
