The 2024 “Le Finestre Fiorite di Maria Pia Gennari” Award was awarded to Maria Chiera, founder of the Oasi dell’Accoglienza for families from all over the world and in memory of Professor Raffaella Raffaelli. The award ceremony took place yesterday afternoon, in the city council room.

“This is an award named after an extraordinary woman who has done so much for this city, like Maria Pia Gennari – comments at the opening of the ceremony Camilla Murgia, councilor for Kindness of the Municipality of Pesaro -. This is an award that goes to those who have donated so much to social life and to others”. Going into the merits of the awards, Guendalina Blasi, president of the XII Commission for Women Chosen by the Municipality of Pesaro: “This award has allowed the commission to undertake a very rich and powerful journey, to discover the world of women – she says -“. The first recognition went to the memory of Raffaella Raffaelli, teacher, master of life and literary studies, who left us in 2020. “She was capable of giving lessons full of knowledge and intelligence, but of great irony. She raised numerous generations of Pesaro and Romagna”.

Professor Raffaelli’s family collected the award, with her daughter Chiara Agostinelli who, visibly moved, wanted to thank everyone present. The second award went to Maria Chiera, founder of the Oasi dell’Accoglienza. Councilor Murgia read the reasons: “The city expresses its gratitude to you for having created a point of reference for the families of children suffering from thalassemia being treated at the Pesaro hospital. This is an association which has also worked for the recognition of human rights and in particular those of women”. Maria Chiera herself commented on the awarding of the award: “This is a recognition that goes to all those who collaborate with us – she says -. If Maria Pia had still been alive, she would have said: let’s not spend so much singing ourselves, let’s move on and let’s get busy. We will hardly be able to find administrators of his caliber – he adds -“. Chiera retraced some stages experienced by the Oasis, in particular the International Conference against violence against women, “which we managed to hold in Fano and where a text dedicated to women today present in the Charter of Human Rights came out. Maria Pia did not she missed not even a minute of that appointment.”
