“After the demonstration on April 25th where we brought the themes of work and exploitation, of solidarity between workers and internationally within a demonstration which would otherwise have only been commemorative, another demonstration awaits us where we will bring our themes to in which we hope for a large participation of workers”.
This was stated by the USB union in announcing the protest in Piazza Roma (Giardini area) scheduled for Wednesday 1 May from 10am to 12pm.
A small group will pass in front of the Confindustria headquarters to leave flowers in memory of the workers who died at work.
After the protest we will go to Persichello where the ARCI comrades will offer a solidarity meal because the proceeds will be donated to support the fired ProSus workers.
“It’s May Day – explain the organizers – workers’ day, we don’t call it a holiday because there is nothing to celebrate, exploitation and death are the daily reality that thousands of workers experience. On May 1st we will protest to say “no more deaths at work”, “no more contracts”, “no more exploitation” and we will once again ask the old and new owners of Prosus to withdraw all the layoffs and to hire all the contract workers”.
