Descriptive text here

A weekend not to be missed for lovers of sport, solidarity, culture and the environment. An opportunity to combine passion for running and social commitment.

Varese is preparing to host EcoRun 2024, an event that combines sport, solidarity and environmental protection. The event will be held on the weekend of April 20th and 21st and will see the participation of thousands of athletes and enthusiasts.

Many competitions for all tastes

  • Half Marathon: the queen race of the event, with a new, smoother and faster 21.097 km route, designed to enhance the scenic beauty of the city and its surroundings. The last three kilometers will be all downhill, for an electrifying race finale.
  • 10K Ecorun: a 10 km race open to all, ideal for those who want to test themselves on a shorter distance and enjoy the suggestive panorama of Lake Varese.
  • Non-competitive: walks and runs for all levels, even for families and children, such as the EcoRun for Special People, dedicated to people with disabilities, and the MiniecoRun, a fun run for the little ones.

A concrete commitment to solidarity

EcoRun Varese is not just a race, but also an opportunity to support two important local realities: Gulliver Center (recovery center for people with disabilities offering rehabilitation, physiotherapy and psychological support services) And CAOS Association (which deals with prevention and support for women who have had breast surgery, promoting research and information on the disease).

Two new initiatives to raise awareness and funds:

  • I run x Franca: a non-competitive walk dedicated to the memory of Franca, a dear friend of the organizers who recently passed away. The proceeds will be donated to the Gulliver Center.
  • We run for prevention: a non-competitive 5km run to raise awareness of the importance of breast cancer prevention and raise funds for the CAOS Association

An eco-friendly event

EcoRun Varese also stands out for its commitment to protecting the environment. The event is plastic free and uses eco-friendly materials, starting with the medals and t-shirts made from recycled materials. The organization also promotes the use of public transport and sustainable mobility to reach the event area.

Many side events for an unforgettable weekend

In addition to the races, EcoRun Varese offers a rich program of collateral events to liven up the city and involve all participants:

  • Guided tours of the Civic Tower and the historic shops of Varese: an opportunity to discover the architectural beauty and history of the city.
  • Reuse market: where to find unique and vintage objects, giving them a new life and helping to reduce the environmental impact.
  • Cross-country running for children: a fun and carefree competition for the little ones, in the name of sport and fair play.
  • Gluten-free restaurant: a service dedicated to celiac athletes to guarantee them a healthy and safe diet.
  • Concerts and shows: to liven up Saturday and Sunday evenings with music and entertainment.

Art t-shirts and special medal

The event’s technical t-shirts, made of technical and breathable material, were designed by the Maestro Marcello Morandini, one of the greatest Varese artists of the twentieth century. The participation medal, however, is dedicated to Ponti villas, masterpieces of Italian rationalist architecture designed by Gio Ponti and located right in Varese.
