The “Animal Days”, the new event format launched in Matera, dedicated to animals, on 27 and 28 April 2024, conceived by Silvana Laviola, Project manager for events, WFE vice-president, told their world through science, l art, play, with many educational activities aimed at children and adults, to increase the perception of the true value of animals, very precious in people’s lives.
This solidarity culture initiative took place at the Dichio Garden Center which welcomed the event’s proposal for a social purpose.
“Animal Days” given its public utility, had the patronage of the City of Matera and the Provincial Order of Surgeons and Dentists of Matera; it was also created thanks to the collaboration of the social promotion association “L’ultima Luna” of Potenza, with the support of the press office of the newspaper Wine&Fashion Europe Magazine.
On April 27, the television show girl Stefania Orlando and the actress Anna Rita Del Piano were present to support the event’s mission.
We meet Dr. Laviola who tells us how the project she conceived and coordinated was born, not by chance in nature, in an important green “lung” with the ownership of Vivaio Dichio, a company to which it was proposed for the first edition of 2024.
The aim of this ANIMAL DAYS event is to stimulate greater awareness and respect towards the animal world and nature.
We, mistakenly, speak of animals as “objects” of the house… But they are precisely the main actors in our lives as, in addition to keeping children, adults and the elderly company, they considerably increase the psychophysical well-being of people with situations of physical and mental discomfort or disability.
More than a project in the physical sense, I would say that mine is a cultural project since what has interested and involved me with particular evidence in recent years is the action/reaction capacity of the “new” culture, based on the importance of animals and nature that surrounds us, which today is updated and certainly participated in the international debate by playing a leading role, both in the animal world and in the world of nature, strong with an ability to vision and interpret reality of extraordinary interest.
We must be available to change and to remedy and recover with great speed, look around us optimizing the importance that animals have in our lives, and the decisive role that nature itself represents, factors that indicate change to us and with this our ability to innovation, making us dialogue with the environment, improving it.
The presence of the kids from the AIAS of Melfi (PZ) was exciting and they were very happy to take part in the baby dance, the baby face painting, to pet Fiamma, Loredana Labriola’s child-friendly dog, and many other sweet dogs from the adoption points of the Elle Elle and Argo kennels in Matera.
The artist Michele Volpicella created, in line with the concept of the event, some splendid works depicting a model with a dachshund, a kitten and a poodle
The scientific seminar on Pet Therapy, as co-therapy in the use of health resources, was very important and was held on the 27th with important interventions by speakers such as Paola Serio, veterinary doctor, zootherapist who spoke about animal-assisted interventions, Vincenzo Pierro, a psychiatrist who spoke about the importance of PetTherapy in psychiatric rehabilitation, Lucia Carriero, a neuroscientist who presented a study on the beneficial effects that contact with animals generates on the human brain and Bruno Laurita, the president of the social promotion “L’ultima Luna ” of Potenza who spoke about the life experience of one of his associates with animals.
On the 28th there was another important event, that of the exhibitions of the dogs of the National Carabinieri Association of Basilicata, Tricarico section, for the search for missing people, with the representation of the Major General Luigi Finelli.
We can say with satisfaction that the event recorded an almost unexpected consensus.
