packed church in Puglia for Pisan funerals

(ANSA) – SAN MARZANO DI SAN GIUSEPPE, 16 APR – Crowded church in San Marzano di San Giuseppe in the province of Taranto, where the funeral of Mario Pisani, 73 years old, one of the seven victims of the massacre at the hydroelectric power plant of Bargi, on Lake Suviana (Bologna). The mass is celebrated in the parish of San Carlo Borromeo, in Piazza Milite Ignoto. Tears and applause welcomed the arrival of the coffin. Outside the church three wreaths of flowers with condolence cards from Enel Green Power, the company that owns the Suviana power plant, Enel and Siemens Energy, one of the contracting companies. In the front row the man’s family, his wife Grazia, his three children Fabio, Matteo and Valentina with his five grandchildren, his brother Antonio, his sister-in-law Pina and his uncles. Then the mayor Francesco Leo, wearing the tricolor sash. The 73-year-old was the oldest among the victims of the tragedy. One of the recurring questions that arose after the dramatic accident was what he was doing there at his age. But Mario Pisani did not hold the role of a worker, he did not touch the pipes, he was a long-time technician and carried out – as far as we have learned – the role of supervisor, in particular on electrical issues, due to his experience in plant engineering and management of complex systems.
