SSaturday 20 April: regional event in San GJohn of Baiano against the war of Noated and to say no to military spending and the sending of weapons!
Potere al Popolo dell’Umbria participates and invites everyone to participate in the demonstration to be held on Saturday 20 April in San Giovanni di Baiano (Spoleto) against the ever-increasing involvement of our country in war, against the arms race and against sending weapons to Ukraine.
The demonstration, promoted by the “No Arms Committee for the NATO Wars in Europe and Palestine”, represents a first popular response to the declarations of Defense Minister Crosetto, who on 28 February in the Chamber of Deputies reiterated Italy’s support for the war in Ukraine and illustrated the project which also involves the Baiano di Spoleto military plant, where the production of armaments (including the “Vulcano” missiles) to be sent to Ukraine is planned.
The approval of this project, now being evaluated by the European Union, would represent a further step towards the involvement of our country in the war wanted by NATO and provoked by its expansion up to the Russian borders; a project that would be financed (up to a maximum of 40%) with part of a 500 million euro fund allocated by the community budget for the production of missiles and artillery ammunition.
The European Union therefore insists on wanting to prolong a disastrous war from a military point of view, which has already caused the massacre of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians used as cannon fodder and is devastating for a European economy overwhelmed by an increasingly serious crisis and totally downloaded on the popular bands.
The fact that the Baiano military establishment, which devours public money intended to oil the NATO war machine, is located a handful of kilometers from the Spoleto hospital, the health facility in Umbria most heavily affected by the policies of cuts and dismantling of the public health carried out by this national government and this regional council, perfectly captures the priorities of this government.
We will not stand by and watch as this government drags us further and further into war (in Ukraine as in the Red Sea), exposing our territories to possible reprisals!
