Killed on the door of his home in via Codignole, in Brescia: in the next few hours an autopsy will be performed on the body of the 54-year-old Indian bricklayer Satpal Singh, who was shot in the late afternoon of Saturday 13 April. The man who shot him, 78-year-old Giuseppe Valetti, remains hospitalized in a bed in the intensive care unit of the Poliambulance clinic: after killing, the former Carabinieri marshal attempted to end it by turning the used gun against himself previously. The attempted suicide occurred in an apartment in Via Corsica, which the 78-year-old had recently sold to the victim’s eldest son.
Killed for a ‘disputed’ house
According to the investigators, it would be precisely the resentments linked to the sale of that property and the former marshal’s claim to return to live in the house recently sold – with regular procedure – at the origin of the ambush that cost the life of the Indian bricklayer. According to what emerged, Valetti had known the victim’s eldest son for many years, who had also worked as a gardener for him: the former marshal, after having inherited the house in Via Corsica from his deceased brother, had decided to sell it to him. Only to then think again: according to what the victim’s son said, the elderly man wanted to return to live in that apartment. For this reason it seems that he had been threatening the young man and his family for some time.
The threats and the disconnected current
Intimidation that would go on for a long time, until on Saturday the 78-year-old reached the apartment in via Codignole, where the victim lived together with his wife and their two children. A crime that the elderly man may have planned in detail: according to the latest details that have emerged – reported by Brescia newspaper – the former marshal allegedly ambushed the victim. Before going into action he would have in fact turned off the power, thus attracting the 54-year-old to the landing, where he then fired.
The 54-year-old was found in a bloodbath by his family, who rushed after hearing the roar of the shots: Valetti would have quickly gone down the stairs and then got into his Fiat Panda and reached the apartment in Via Corsica, the object of the rancor which culminated in crime, and attempt to kill himself.
