ANCONA The transition from the Sonosphere to the synagogue was sudden, but it did not bring everyone to agreement, on the contrary. There are families who didn’t take it well and called the school. “As? Haven’t you seen what is happening in Israel? Do you really think of sending our children to visit a synagogue in times of war in the Middle East?”.
The tom tom
The tom tom on the cell phones of worried parents went on all day, until the decision was made: yes, the trip will take place. Today the fourth grade students of Conero will leave by bus for Pesaro. An educational trip organized two months ago by the school, revised and corrected during the Easter holidays when the institute learned that the Sonosphere – hi-tech amphitheater for listening to ecosystems and music, a unique structure in the world inaugurated in 2020 – it would not have been usable because it was temporarily transferred to the Catholic University of Milan for the Design Week from Pesaro, Italian Capital of Culture 2024. Thus, having consulted the teachers, the organizers decided to confirm the other stops included in the tour (Casa Rossini and Civic Museums ) replacing the Sonosphere with a visit to the Sephardic synagogue of Pesaro, founded in the mid-16th century, with the “trace hunting” laboratory. Some parents say they only found out about the change at the last minute and concern has grown after Iran’s recent attack on Israel. The winds of war blowing on the Jewish state have also shaken some families, perplexed (euphemism) about the opportunity to bring school groups to visit a synagogue, a sensitive place of worship. The fuss was raised yesterday when the principal was called into question. «This educational trip was established two months ago – explains Raffaella Mazzocchi, head teacher of the Scocchera comprehensive institute -. When we learned of the impossibility of visiting the Sonosphere, the teachers opted for the synagogue, since the study of Jewish culture is part of the teaching plan.”
The variation
The principal points out that «families were informed of the change in programme, through the short channels, through the class coordinators, and then with a circular registered in the electronic register. I find no lightness in the modus operandi.” On the convenience of taking 9-year-old children to a synagogue, in this delicate historical moment, the school director replies: «I trust in the surveillance of the police, all the families agree in confirming this trip without creating alarmism and only one parent told me expressed doubts.” So, all aboard children: we’re leaving this morning.
