Today, Tuesday 16 April, Division General Giuseppe Arbore, Lombardy Regional Commander of the Guardia di Finanza, paid a visit to the Provincial Command of Como. Received by the Provincial Commander, Colonel Michele Donega, the general officer, after the ritual honours, first spoke briefly with the Police Commissioner and the Provincial Commander of the Carabinieri, continuing the institutional meetings with the Prefect Andrea Polichetti and the Chief Prosecutor of the Republic Massimo Astori. The meetings concluded with a visit to Monsignor Oscar Cantoni, bishop of Como to whom General Arbore expressed his thanks, on behalf of all the Lombardy Fiamme Gialle, for the closeness shown to the Corps. Afterwards, at Palazzo Terragni, the prestigious headquarters of the Guardia di Finanza since 1957, the General met the Officers, the Department Commanders, a representation of the personnel in service and the delegates of the seven Sections of the National Association of Financiers of Italy. During the meeting, the Regional Commander greeted those present, underlining the relevance and delicacy of the institutional tasks entrusted to the Corps and the high expectations that the community places on the Guardia di Finanza as an essential safeguard of legality.
The peculiarities of the Como area
General Arbore then focused on the operational peculiarities that distinguish the Como area, highlighting, in particular, the historical, current and future importance that customs supervision activities have in terms of protecting EU and national financial interests as well as combating to illicit trafficking. The General then presided over a briefing, during which some operational issues affecting the socio-economic reality of the province were explored in depth, and the lines of action of the Departments were reiterated, constantly oriented towards the protection of the legal and to combat any form of illegality. A specific focus also concerned the main operations carried out by the Como departments to combat the most serious criminal phenomena affecting the territory. At the end of the visit, General Arbore expressed words of appreciation for the dedication, professionalism and commitment demonstrated by the Fiamme Gialle Lariane in their daily service activities, urging them to devote all their energy to protecting legality and economic-financial security of the Como area.
