It is also the case for tourists who arrive without a car Palermo, a city where public transport is not always usable and there are no suitable taxis or vehicles to rent. Something, however, is moving. Starting this week, people with disabilities who can drive a car will be able to rent an adapted vehicle for their travels.
In fact, the Palermo branch of Src Rent Car activates the “Next to this ability” project, which will be presented tomorrow at 5pm, at the Noz Space of the Cantieri Culturali della Zisa in the presence, among others, of the councilor for social activities of the Municipality of Palermo Rosi Pennino. This is the first service of this type in Sicily and its extension to other cities in the region is planned.

This service represents an important step forward towards accessibility and inclusion for people with disabilities. Through the offer of adapted vehicles we are committed to providing users with the freedom and independence they need to lead a full and autonomous life”, says Francesco Scalia, sole director of Src Rent Car.
The cars available are Fiat 500 The “Next to this ability” project is developed in partnership with Anglat, a national social promotion association that has been working since 1980 to protect the rights of people with disabilities and their families. The association focuses primarily on the areas of mobility, driving, transport and accessibility.
To book the rental of an adapted car, simply fill out a booking form on the Src Rent Car website, select the group car category “No” (adapted car) and choose the adaptations available in the “Extra services and accessories” section. The cars of the “Next to this ability” service will also be bookable by customers coming from abroad, tourists who will finally be able to travel around and enjoy the artistic and landscape beauties of our island in full autonomy.
