The preparation and qualification course aimed at the staff of the Road Sector of the Province of Foggia has recently ended, in order to acquire the skills necessary to carry out the functions of “Road Police” as required by the art. 12 of the Highway Code. Thanks to the active participation of 27 provincial employees, the course was successfully held at the Palazzo Dogana headquarters, allowing them to acquire fundamental knowledge on road traffic regulations, on the tasks of prevention and repression of violations and on sanctioning procedures, as well as on protection and control over the use of the road (art. 23, paragraph 3, of the Regulation implementing the Highway Code, Presidential Decree 06/12/1992 n. 495).
“Since 2016, Foggia has been the only province in Puglia to be without a provincial police force, despite the fact that the Capitanata extends over an extremely vast and diversified territory and represents a context characterized by ecological emergencies – declared the President of the Province Giuseppe Nobiletti – with a resolution, in the provincial council a few months ago, I have already asked the Puglia Region to detach a group of former police officers, currently serving in the Region, but waiting – continued the president – this initiative shows our constant commitment to guaranteeing the qualification and preparation of the personnel of the Province of Foggia, in order to ensure protection and control of the provincial territory”.
