Evacuation area in a villa in the throes of decay: «Broken gate and fence, impossible to let the dogs free»

A dog run area where, however, it is not possible to leave four-legged friends free since there is no adequate fence and an access gate which has been torn down a couple of weeks ago. A dog walking area for which there are no maintenance interventions, if not sporadic, but frequented by many citizens also because it is the only one in the city. We are talking about the area for man’s best friends inside the Villa Comunale “Marano” in Andria which has long been at the center of various requests from citizens.

The area would need a new fence as well as the immediate arrangement of the access gate considering that in several places the fence has now been torn apart also due to the fall of some large branches from the surrounding trees. The fountain present in the area never supplied water, at least until some willing citizen intervened and restored its functionality. The bins are often full of sachets containing dog waste but are not emptied with the necessary continuity. Grass mowing and pesticide treatments should be the norm, which instead isn’t there. A situation well described by the many who use the area every day, even more so now that the summer is approaching. Of course there is not only a problem of lack of maintenance interventions but also a certain incivility which sometimes creates quite a few problems.

The dream would be to have at least this area constantly clean and ready to welcome dogs in complete safety. Another dream, currently unrealizable, is to have other walking areas in several parts of the city. From the municipal body, however, they explain to us that in the next few days there will be an intervention on the gate and on the fence to, at least, stop the problem. However, the acquisition of a loan from a private company is underway which will allow the entire area to be renovated with the installation of equipment dedicated to dogs. The administration’s goal is to do this in a short time.
