Cosenza clinging to Tutino’s goals between salvation and a future to be written

It was last February 23rd: we were playing at Marulla Cosenza-Sampdoria on the day of the 110th anniversary of the club’s history. But that was it too Gennaro Tutino’s special night, who reached 100 appearances with the Wolves shirt. Which the Neapolitan center forward feels more and more than he does. A milestone that the club celebrated a few days late, last Saturday before the kick-off of the match against Palermo.

Cosenza could have remembered Tutino’s 100 appearances on March 3rd, on the day of the derby against Catanzaro. Or April 1st, the day of Cosenza-Brescia. Last Saturday’s match against the Rosanero was Gennaro’s 105th appearance wearing the Wolves shirt. And thanks to which he achieved his personal record for goals in Serie B: the penalty in the 1-1 draw against his former team was his 14th goal in the league. He beat the previous personal best of 13 goals from the 2020-2021 season with Salernitana, with which he achieved promotion to Serie A.

Now his goals will be used to drag Cosenza to safety. Which is not at all a given, given the progress of the last eight matches (four with Caserta and the same number with Viali) during which only 4 points were achieved (2 each for both coaches). The margin from the playout is just one point, with three points to avoid direct relegation.

Clearly the Wolves are holding on to Tutino’s goals to celebrate their stay in Serie B. Then we will have to discuss the future, which obviously will be all to be written. The desire on the part of the player to continue with the rossoblù and be tied to Cosenza and Cosenza for life is not enough. But he will only do it if an ambitious project is presented to him.
